Should you pause & edit your Facebook ads

To be really honest with you, I can’t even remember the last time that I paused an Ad….I never pause my ads because I noticed ( and a lot of other people) that everything I do it, it seems like my ads are not performing well once I un-pause them.

One thing you have to realize is that Facebook starts collecting data at the Ad set level. At first it goes super slow, but then it goes faster, and faster.

If you pause the ad, what I’ve found and what a lot of other people have found is that the ad is not performing as well as before. It is like if you lost all the data the Facebook pixel collected in the past.

This is why I NEVER pause my ads.

So what should you do?

Let’s say that you’re spending $500 per day on your Facebook ad, and it is 2PM and you see that you’re not making any sales with that ad, and you want to basically stop spending money on that ad for that day. What I used to do was to pause the ad until I discovered that it’s probably not the best way to do it. So what I do these days is I lower the budget. So if for example, it is 1PM and I’ve already spent $300 on that ad, then I’m just going to lower my budget to $250. This way, Facebook will stop spending money for the day. By doing this, It is like if I paused the Ad, BUT I’m not losing all my data.

Here is another example: Let’s say that your ad is running and you want to edit something in it. Let’s say that you want to change the country you are targeting from USA to Canada. Should you do it directly inside of the existing adset, should you create another adset?

I’ve tested a lot of things and THE ONLY THING I edit directly inside of the Adset if the budget. FOR ALL THE REST, I duplicate the adset, modify what I want to modify, create the new adset then delete the first one. By doing this, you won’t lose your data.

Again, THE ONLY THING YOU SHOULD EDIT DIRECTLY IS THE BUDGET… For all the rest, duplicate the adset, make the changes, create the new adset and delete the first one.
