How To Know If Your Facebook Pixel Is Installed Correctly

Romeo’s question is: “How can you tell if the pixel is tracking correctly on your store?”.

Get the extension.

The first thing that you really need to do if you want to know if the pixel is installed correctly is to download a Chrome extension. It is called Facebook Chrome Pixel Helper extension. It is a free extension on Chrome that only takes about 2 minutes to download. Click HERE to download.

When you have that extension installed, you’ll be able to see on your product page if your pixel is tracking correctly or not. What I recommend you to do is to verify if your pixel is tracking correctly on each page. Do it on your store’s main page, products’ page and add to cart. Also, do a test purchase and use your Chrome extension to check if it tracks correctly.

The numbers are not going to be 100% accurate.

What you also need to realize is that, when it comes to Facebook tracking and reporting, it is never 100% accurate. Sometimes the numbers in Facebook reporting are not going to be 100% accurate. A lot of people think that the reason for that is because their pixel is not installed correctly. Sometimes, even if your pixel is installed correctly, the numbers in Facebook reporting are still inaccurate.

There are multiple reasons why that happens. Sometimes, you just have to give it more time. If you make a sell in your store, then you refresh to look, sometimes you need to give it a few hours before it updates correctly.

As a general rule, don’t freak out if the numbers are not 100% accurate because that really happens. It is something that you need to deal with. You just have to get used to Facebook reporting not being 100% accurate.

Conclusion

Again, to answer Romeo’s question, just download the Chrome extension: Facebook Chrome Pixel Helper extension. It is totally free. Make sure to test on each page in your store. If your pixel is installed correctly, you are going to see on your extension that the Facebook pixel fires correctly. The extension will tell you that everything is working properly.
